""My advice: funding bodies need to become less tolerant of underperformance and more willing to challenge failing organisations. [...] The development of business skills should be a priority for organisations and funders. [...] Organisations need to get much closer to their audiences, with a view to attracting more resources via secondary spend, individual giving, advocacy and volunteering. [...] Businesses in the sector need to rethink their support operations to cut costs and/or secure better services, that is, to improve their productivity. This could include: shared services, joint procurement and outsourcing; using digital technologies to automate business processes; making greater use of volunteers in an appropriate and strategic manner.
